• My Blog for Where We Belong by Sarah Bennett

    Such a striking cover!

I do enjoy Sarah Bennett’s books, she writes such fantastic communities into her stories, so I was really excited to read this book as it is a new series set with lots of interesting characters and plot lines.
Hope is a great character, she’s looking to move out of the family home and find a little independence from her family, however it turns out that something unexpected creates a hiccup in her plans!
Cam comes into her life and brings a chance of love, and support as Hope deals with the various issues that living and working with your family brings.
A fascinating backstory, involving history, plus in the mix are some very adorable dogs and a beautiful setting, this book was a gorgeous read and I’m already looking forward to book two!

    Book blurb

The start of a BRAND NEW series from bestselling author Sarah Bennett.

On paper, Hope Travers has an idyllic life.

Living in a bustling farmhouse with her mum, aunt and uncles, cousin and too many dogs to count, surrounded by the breath-taking Cotswolds countryside, she knows she is privileged and protected.

But all families have secrets, and the Travers family are no exception. Their farmhouse sits in the grounds of the Juniper Meadows estate, passed down through the generations and now being made to pay its own way with a myriad of businesses and projects. When a construction crew uncover what appear to be historical ruins, the history of the Travers family is put under ever closer scrutiny as a dig gets underway.

Hope may have found a blossoming romance with local archaeologist Cameron Ferguson who is running the dig, but when things start to go wrong around the estate and family secrets begin to be revealed, Hope wonders if she’s made a big mistake in digging up the past.

    So beautiful

The beautiful cover alone piqued my interest in this book, and after reading the synopsis I just knew that I was going to love this gorgeous book, and I really did!
Such an exciting start to the story, I was completely drawn into the going’s on and it did not let up at all throughout the book!
Such wonderful characters and an amazing storyline, a great combination of historical fiction and a heartwarming romance.
I found the details well written and very informative and I loved the unexpected moments too!
A brilliant first novel, I’m already looking forward to reading more from this fantastic author.

    Book blurb

It’s 1911 and, against her mother’s wishes, quiet New Yorker Emma dreams of winning the right to vote. She is sent away by her parents in the hope distance will curb her desire to be involved with the growing suffrage movement and told to spend time learning about where her grandparents came from.

Across the Atlantic – Queenstown, southern Ireland – hotelier Thomas dreams of being loved, even noticed, by his actress wife, Alice. On their wedding day, Alice’s father had assured him that adoration comes with time. It’s been eight years. But Alice has plans of her own and they certainly don’t include the fight for equality or her dull husband.

Emma’s arrival in Ireland leads her to discover family secrets and become involved in the Irish Women’s Suffrage Society in Cork. However, Emma’s path to suffrage was never meant to lead to a forbidden love affair…

  • My Blog Tour Post for The Lady of the Loch by Elena Collins

A beautiful book inside and out 💛

Oh my goodness what a marvellous story!
I love a duel timeline book and this one was utterly captivating and thrilling from the very beginning.
My review follows the book blurb.

    The Lady of the Loch

    Book 📖 blurb 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

‘Although I believe I will die here in this castle, my spirit will never be silent.’
    Ravenscraig Castle, Scotland. 1307

When the castle she works in is sacked by the army of Prince Edward of England, kitchen maid Agnes Fitzgerald manages to escape north of Inverness to throw herself at the mercy of the Lord and Lady at Ravenscraig Castle. Although safe for now, the people of Scotland are fighting hard for their independence, and the threat of the English hangs heavy over the land. But when Agnes spies Cam Buchanan swimming in the loch, her mind turns away from war and towards love. Agnes even dares to dream of a happy future, until she learns that Cam must go and fight alongside Robert de Brus.

    Present day

Twins Leah and Zoe need a change, so caretaking at Ravenscraig Castle is the perfect opportunity to get away from it all. Surrounded by rugged Highland countryside, and bordered by a loch, the picturesque setting is everything they dreamed of. But the locals are reluctant to visit Ravenscraig, and there are whispers of ghosts and lost souls. The sisters quickly dismiss such superstition, but soon the overwhelming sadness they feel coming from the tower grows too hard to ignore.

Can the sisters finally right the wrongs of seven hundred years of heartbreak, seven hundred years of betrayal…

USA Today bestselling author Judy Leigh writing as Elena Collins, brings you this heart-breaking and unforgettable timeslip novel, perfect for fans of Barbara Erskine, Diana Gabaldon and Louise Douglas.

    Praise for Elena Collins:

    ‘Very highly recommended.’ Louise Douglas

‘The Lady of The Loch held me spellbound from the first page to the last. With two storylines beautifully woven together to create a seamless tale of love, loss, betrayal and, above all, hope, it’s a must-read. Collins’s detailed knowledge of the period trickles through the tale wrapping the reader in a vivid shifting world as it moves between the 14th century and present day. Cleverly researched and exquisitely written, The Lady of The Loch is a timeless story of hope, family and love. I loved it.’ Alexandra Walsh

What readers are saying about Elena Collins:

‘I couldn’t put it down and I cried at the end. A terrific read.’

‘A rollercoaster of emotions reading this book…from the life of a young woman let down in her relationship (we’ve all been there)! running parallel to the complete un-justified vitriol against a young woman in the late 1600’s. It was amazing, a very powerful novel. Brilliant.’

‘A book that that left me tearful at the end, but a very good story that had me hooked from the first page. Well thought out and the characters very believable.’

‘Loved this book so much, the story grips you from start to finish, leaving you wishing for more of the story to magically appear so that it never ends.’

‘Absolutely delightful read! One found oneself utterly captivated by the characters – of flesh & spirit alike – the Author has the ability to conjure a physical reaction in the reader – of a scent or a chill – a rare gift.’

‘Stunning. Loved this book. Interesting, really fabulous read that bought lots of emotion, gladness, spookiness, history and sadness with lovely clever story-telling. I loved it.’

    About the Author
Elena Collins is the pen name of Judy Leigh. Judy Leigh is the bestselling author of Five French Hens , A Grand Old Time and The Age of Misadventure and the doyenne of the ‘it’s never too late’ genre of women’s fiction. She has lived all over the UK from Liverpool to Cornwall, but currently resides in Somerset.

    My ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Review

A hauntingly good story that captured my interest and imagination from the first few chapters.
A cleverly written duel timeline, it had so much going on in both times to keep me turning the page’s avidly. The parts with Agnes and Cam were very much seeped in the style of an Outlander story and I really bonded with those characters and their plight.
The modern timeline was also gripping as you wanted to know what was going on in the chapel and if Leah would uncover the castle’s secrets.
So much wonderful historical details too, it really was a huge pleasure to read.

  • My Blog for Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner by Kathryn Freeman.

I absolutely love 80s Rom Com movies so this title really caught my attention! It was a fabulous fun romp of a read, watching Sally and Harry attempt some iconic RomCom scenes together to share on social media.
I liked the way they became friends and how as opposites they slowly became attracted, in a gentle but humorous manner.
A very clever and entertaining storyline, I was constantly guessing which scene would be chosen next!
A perfect relaxing read that was amusing and fun from the start until the end!
Will definitely look out for more from this author as I enjoyed her style of writing.

    Book blurb

The perfect pick me up romcom for fans of Beth O’Leary, Emily Henry and Ali Hazelwood!

    Spice rating:

Not an expert, not even close, not in any of this. But nobody will try harder than me to make you happy.

Sally is a classic romantic and Harry is a classic cynic, but when a drunken bet leads the new flatmates to (badly) recreate ‘the lift’ from Dirty Dancing, and the video goes viral (#EpicRomcomReenactmentFailure), they both realise there’s potential financial benefit in blundering their way through the romcom lexicon for their suddenly vast social media following.

Now, as Harry and Sally bring major romcom moments to new life – including recreating that classic diner scene – their faking it turns to making…out and suddenly they’re living a real life romcom of their own! But like all the greatest love stories, the road to happily ever after is paved with unexpected challenges for this hero and heroine…

    Everyone LOVES this book!

  • Happy Publication Day!

Happy Publication Day Lily Mae Walters! 📖🍾🥳

I have been looking for a Fantasy type series to read as this year I am determined to read other genres each month. So I was intrigued to try these books by an author who also writes in my usual favoured genre of romance.
I soon found myself drawn into the world of Suncroft and the mysterious creatures and history of the secret village that Josie finds herself part of.
My review for both books follows the book blurbs. 🙂

🌟 Both books are available on Kindle Unlimited 🌟

Josie James and the Teardrops of Summer

Josie James is an ordinary 13 year old until something extraordinary happens during her summer holidays. Whilst staying at her great grandmother’s cottage in the country she finds herself swept into the cursed world of Suncroft where it is perpetual winter. Her new friends believe she could be the Chosen One who it is foretold will lift the curse, but there are more pressing matters. The Teardrops of Summer – magical crystals that render the owner immortal – have been stolen. Along with her telepathic husky-dog Protector Asher and her new friends, Josie must race to find the Teardrops and prevent catastrophe for their world.

    My review

This year I have challenged myself to read out of my usual genre, so I thought this looked interesting for my Fantasy reading list. Straight away I was hooked into the story, I was fascinated to find out about Josie and her other life in Suncroft!
Love the concept of Huskies as protectors and the mystery of the cursed village.
    It certainly kept me reading!
I liked that it was a shorter book, not too overwhelming to read. I was ready to drive into book two the next day!

Josie James and the Velvet Knight

“For you to find the Velvet Knight, you must solve the riddles thrice.”

A mysterious hooded figure, known only as the Velvet Knight has appeared in the cursed village of Suncroft. No one knows who he is or what he wants but when he starts leaving riddles around the village, it is time for Josie to return to Suncroft for a second time.

With Asher, her faithful husky Protector by her side, Filan, a half elf, and her great grandad, will they be able to solve the clues in time and discover his identity?

The Velvet Knight is not the only one causing problems for Josie. Her rival for the position of the ‘Chosen One’ continues to grow stronger, and now he has a Protector of his own.

What does all this mean for Josie? Is she destined to lift the wintery curse of Suncroft or will another take her place as the ‘Chosen One’?

    My review

Book two of my Fantasy adventure and I enjoyed this equally to the first one!
It was fantastic to return to Suncroft and to catch up with the characters that I had met in the first book.
Exciting happenings kept me engaged and turning the pages over!
Such brilliant characters and intriguing moments, it was a delightful read and just the right amount of chapters!
Looking forward to the next book now!

Bea Winters is in desperate need of a fresh start. Being bullied at work is not her idea of fun and she longs to follow her dream of becoming a published author. When an advert appears in her local paper to work in a publishing house in the sleepy village of Bloomsdale, it sounds too good to be true.
She strikes up an instant friendship with gorgeous aspiring author, Eddie Richards and her dashing millionaire boss Scott Summers. But all isn’t as it seems in the sleepy village of Bloomsdale.
How does the local clairvoyant know her name? Who does the little black dog that keeps appearing belong to and why does she keep bumping into the mysterious Charlie?
As she starts to unravel the truth, it seems that everyone in Bea’s life is keeping secrets.
An uplifting romantic comedy that will warm your heart – perfect for fans of Cathy Bramley, Milly Johnson and Carole Matthews.

    My 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 review

Such an engaging story! I love a little bit of magic sprinkled through a storyline, and this one was utterly charming. The many twists and turns kept me enthralled too.
Gorgeous characters and a beautiful setting also made this a wonderful read.
Definitely going to read more from this talented author ❤️

Writing is a great passion of mine, that one day I hope to be able to turn into a career but until that day comes, I will continue working in accounts and payroll.

  • Tilly’s Tuscan Tea Shop blog tour

It was lovely to be whisked away to sunny Tuscany in this gorgeous book. Tilly starts off with very little colour in her life, both from her work and life. It was fantastic to see her blossom when she takes on the challenge of running a tea room in Tuscany. Watching her connect with the community and begin to throw herself into the challenges of running the business.
The food sounded scrumptious and you could imagine how wonderful it would be to eat there.
I enjoy books about food and travel, so this was perfect escapism for me!

    Book 📖 blurb 🧁🫖🍰

When photographer Natalie Nicholson’s beach hut studio – and everything she’s spent the last two years working on – is destroyed in a fire, she doesn’t think things can get any worse. Until she sees her boyfriend Josh Clarke on Instagram frolicking on a palm-fringed Balinese beach with a fellow cabin crew member.

Devastated and heartbroken, she heads to Italy to help out at her sister’s English teashop in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, where she encounters sun-dappled hilltop villages with attractive terracotta bell towers, cobbled piazzas housing world-famous art and architecture, and a national fixation with getting from A to B as quickly as possible whether in a glamourous Ferrari, a scarlet Vespa, or a snail-like ape.

With handsome local filmmaker-cum-waiter Matteo Ferretti on hand to guide her, can Tilly learn to ditch her workaholic ways and embrace the Italian pursuit of la dolce vita? Or will she miss out on her chance at a happy-ever-after?

    Daisy James

Daisy James loves writing stories with strong heroines and swift-flowing plotlines. She especially likes to create sunshine-filled settings in exotic locations – the Caribbean, Tuscany, Cornwall, Provence – so she can spend her time envisioning her characters enjoying the fabulous scenery and sampling the local food and drink.

When not scribbling away in her peppermint-and-green summerhouse (garden shed), she spends her time sifting flour and sprinkling sugar and edible glitter. She loves gossiping with friends over a glass of something fizzy or indulging in a spot of afternoon tea – china plates and teacups are a must.

Daisy would love to hear from readers via her Facebook page or you can follow her on Twitter @daisyjamesbooks, or on Instagram @daisyjamesstories.
